Enhance your pastel techniques with Maxine Thompson on 21–22 March 2026, 9:00am–4:00pm. 

Maxine Thompson is a Master pastelist who tutors all over Australasian. 
As an art tutor, Maxine encourages her students to consider their motivations when approaching a subject. Understanding why they choose a particular subject helps guide their composition. Rather than merely copying, she aims to equip them with skills to create meaningful and expressive artworks.

Joining Maxine’s  classes you  can expect to see the world through fresh eyes. She helps artists appreciate art and their surroundings, encouraging them to notice details they might otherwise overlook. Developing essential skills, they learn to create successful artworks.

With this class there will be plenty  of demonstrations and  exercises to sharpen observation skills. Less reliance on photo references, more on still life subjects: composition, tonal control, light & shade, perspective, textures … Participants may request topics but there will be no time for portraiture in this workshop.
