Collagraph printmaking is an accessible and environmentally friendly way
of making very interesting prints with unique textures. At its simplest it is a
method of printing from collaged plates; at its most sophisticated, it is an
innovative and exciting experimental medium.
In this class you will create a small set of collagraph printing plates
predominantly using the cardboard peeling method, whereby layers of
cardboard are gradually peeled back to create a variety of subtle depths.
Extra details and textures are added using etching tools, PVA and or
wallpaper.
These collagraph plates will loosely run along a landscape theme with
details of natural textures inspired by landscape.
You will learn the diverse way of printing these plates throughcutting them
up, over printing, masking, exploring composition and whitespace.
