Using the clubroom
Club equipment and tools
We provide easels, a light box, a drying rack and lots of hand resources. A printing press is available for use by members as well. This is an expensive piece of equipment so please make sure you know what you are doing before using it! An overhead projector is also available - perfect for enlarging images onto a canvas.
Looking after our shared resources is key to keeping our creative space running smoothly. All Mana Arts equipment must not be taken away from the clubroom.
Looking after the clubroom
All members are expected to keep the clubroom tidy. Please wipe up and sweep up any messes. Do your dishes and don't leave food in the fridge.
If something is broken please let us know - make a note on the whiteboard or send an email.
Library
We have a well-curated library of art books - both reference and 'how to'. Please feel free to borrow - fill in your name in the library borrowing book which sits on the bench immediately beside the library shelves. Don't forget to return books within four weeks.
We welcome donations of art books in good condition.
Visiting the clubroom
We ask that all members and visitors sign into the visitors book. This helps us understand how the rooms are used.
Keys to the clubroom can be obtained by emailing the Mana Arts Secretary who will provide a form to fill in and small deposit to pay.
Notice and display boards
Feel free to pin up any items of interest for fellow members to see! If you're displaying sketches or artwork, be sure to name and date them so they can be returned to you. Unclaimed, unnamed sketches may be removed after a period.
Displaying art in the clubroom
Members are welcome to exhibit their work in our clubrooms, but please note that this is at your own risk - Mana Arts' insurance does not cover personal artworks.
We do ask that you take your work home with you at the end of a class. We have very limited wall space and prioritise its use for finished work. We also want to avoid drips on the walls! There are drying racks in the clubroom which can be used.
Exhibitions
At Mana Arts we love giving our members the opportunity to share their creativity with the world! You are invited to exhibit your work in our clubroom or at other suitable local venues throughout the year.
Joining an exhibition is a fantastic chance to showcase your work, connect with other artists and potentially sell your pieces. We encourage all members to participate and celebrate the creativity that makes Mana Arts such a special place.
Before each exhibition, you'll receive an entry form with all the details, including dates, guidelines and any applicable fees.
Got questions? Need help preparing your artwork? Reach out to a committee member or email us - we're here to support you!
Insurance
Mana Arts does not insure artworks exhibited or stored at the clubroom. Artists are responsible for their own insurance coverage.
Exhibition guidelines
To keep our exhibitions professional and fair for all members, here are a few key requirements:
You must be a current member to enter your work
All submitted artwork must be your own original creation. Copies of other artists' work or unsigned pieces will not be accepted.
All exhibited pieces must be available for purchase.
Paintings must be dry and presented professionally - framed or mounted to a high standard, strung and ready for hanging, and must be properly labelled.
Space may be limited, so we may need to restrict the number of artworks and size of artworks per member to ensure that everyone gets representation.
Sales and commission
The club charges an entry fee to all exhibitions and may retain a commission on sold artworks. We set the entry fee and commission for each exhibition and will advise you what it is. We are very conscious that we are there for you, the artists, so we do not charge commercial rates, but we do need to ensure we cover our costs. Exhibitions also help our club to be financially viable.
Being part of Mana Arts
Become an active member!
At Mana Arts we are more than just an art club, we are a community. And like any thriving community, we rely on passionate and dedicated people to help us grow, evolve and create opportunities for our members. We always need more people to help us, whether that is by volunteering at events, being part of the Committee, or supporting our work in some other way.
So if you're passionate about art, community and creativity, we'd love for you to get involved! You could join the Committee (new members always welcome), assist with an event, or help out behind the scenes.
Being part of the Committee or volunteering is about being part of something bigger. You will play a crucial role in continuing to make Mana Arts a welcoming, engaging and well-organised space where artists can connect, learn and showcase their work. You will get to:
have a say in how the club operates
gain valuable leadership and organisational experience
meet and collaborate with amazing artists
make a lasting impact on our artistic community
Email us for more information about volunteering or becoming a committee member.
